Psychosilly By Alan Murphy To Be Launched At Lismore Immrama

Venue: Lismore Castle Arts
Tickets: Free
Time: 8pm
Opening Event: Launch of books

Safe, predictable, unimaginative. These are adjectives that nobody is likely to hurl within a stone's throw of Psychosilly, the new poetry collection by Alan Murphy. Written with children in mind but appealing equally to adults-and illustrated with the authors own colourfully idiosyncratic collages-this is a no-holds-barred, strap-yourself-in, gloriously surreal journey through the imagination. In it doodles have a life of their own, homework is set by the Devil and dogs shape-shift in their dreams. And that's just for starters....

Murphy's first book, The Mona Lisa's On Our Fridge, was reviewed in the Irish Times as one of the best children's poetry books of 2009, described as "a breath of fresh air" by Seamus Cashman (editor of "Something Beginning With P") and "amazing" by the Munster Express. Psychosilly promises to be just as original, funny and intriguing.

Books by Paul Clements, Áine Uí Fhoghlú and David Monagan will also be launched on the night.
